Personal Board of Directors
I used my phone-a-friend lifeline yesterday.
I am a survivor of the Nicaraguan revolution, civil war, dysfunctional government, and dictatorships/autocracies. When I read the commentary referenced in the picture (WSJ, commentary by Daniel Raisbeck, 4 April 2023), I had a strong opinion based on my life experience. But I aspire to live a life in which actions speak louder than words, and one in which my words are always constructive, and I was about to act in way counter to these aspirations.
Emotions are natural and inescapable, but the reality is that emotionally driven commentary can often be far from constructive. I took a break and walked away from the keyboard, but still came back with emotion in my heart. I edited and edited my post but it still did not ring true to who I aspire to be. So I reached out to a member of my Personal Board of Directors to get some guidance.
--> A “Personal Board of Directors” is a small group of individuals who know you well, who will challenge your thinking, and who help keep you accountable to the live the life you aspire to. Have you established and do you actively rely on, cultivate, and appreciate/thank your own Personal Board of Directors?
Oh, by the way, this particular member of the Manuel Salvador Calero Bellorin Board of Directors was also the friend who suggested I write “A Minute with Manuel.” ¡Gracias, hermano! ☺️
