Humility
The rosary pictured, torn and with an extra bead in the second Decade, is one of my most precious material possessions. There is some irony here as structured prayer did not appeal to me for most of my life. It wasn’t until I was challenged to my core that I came to appreciate the simple act of truly and completely emptying myself into prayer. It helps me calm my thoughts, take stock of all aspects of a situation without fear or pride, remind myself that I am not a perfect being, and see the best possible path forward through the light that brightens within.
